Constipation can be an extremely painful condition and, if you don’t treat it, it can lead to ongoing health problems. There are many reasons why you may suffer from constipation, including a dependency on laxatives, hyperthyroidism or bad reflexes; do you disregard the normal ‘call to action’ when it occurs, which can cause your body to not spot the trigger?

The American Gastroenterological Association approximates that $750 million is spent each year by the American population on laxatives and, as with other types of non-natural stimulants, your body can become reliant on them, which can lead to increased bowel dysfunction. If you choose to discontinue using them, it could lead to a lengthy period of discomfort as your body tries to recall how it is meant to function!

Hypothyroidism can be a common problem, especially in women over 40. Your under active thyroid gland can lead to constipation, which in turn may mask the underlying problem.

Try holistic nutrition diets and focus on plenty of fiber rich foods such as vegetables. Organic flax seeds can add additional fiber and should be added in ground form and sprinkled on your food. Processed foods, junk foods and convenience foods are low in total nutritional value and should be avoided. Very high levels of these things could indicate a sugar addiction, which is a threat to your overall health anyway and must be contained.

If you suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, finding a natural balance between the good and bad bacteria could be the answer, so do your research and invest in a good-quality probiotic to try and achieve this. Don’t forget that regular exercise is essential so create a suitable workout plan to boost circulation and the function of your inner organs, including your intestines and bowels.

If you must take supplements, consider magnesium and aloe vera at the top of your list. One third of a cup of pure organic aloe vera juice can be added to a cup of pure water, a teaspoon full of powdered acidophilus and two teaspoonfuls of ground flax seed. This cleansing drink should be blended well and consumed before you go to bed or on an empty stomach. This almost always does a truly phenomenal job of thoroughly cleaning out all the recesses of your intestinal tract.

Also, you should always remember to heed the call of nature as soon as possible, and avoid waiting longer than you need to for a complete bowel movement. If you do so, water will be removed from the stool and absorbed into your body and this will make it much harder to complete the movement and over time will definitely prevent you from remaining regular.

If you really take the time to thoroughly integrate these helpful tips into your daily lifestyle, and you look into at least a few amazing holistic health solutions, this will assist you with reducing your constipation symptoms – and get your life back on the right path, while curing a whole host of other ailments, many of which you’re probably not even aware exist!
