With movie tickets edging past $10 in many markets, you may be wondering, “Should I run out and see this film, or should I just wait until it comes out on video?” This decision isn’t always easy, you know. Going to the movies is a great activity for dates or for hanging out with friends, but you can’t possibly see every new film to come out. Watching trailers is the best way to know for sure which movies are worth investing in at full cost. Typically, you can catch trailers clips when you’re at the movies seeing another flick, but there are many different websites where you can preview upcoming movies too.

In the past, special websites were set up for each movie and you could find them via the search engines. Today, there are still “official” movie sites, but you can also watch trailers on special websites made just for showing previews of the top movies, and on social networking sites, which make it easier to share good finds. One of these websites is www.traileraddict.com. Here you’ll view a list of the upcoming new releases in DVD-cover format. With one click, you’ll be watching these trailers clips in regular or HD-Plus format. You can then grab embedded codes or post the trailer right on your Twitter page. In a right hand column, you can also watch “related trailers” and view the ratings of these previews to select the best ones.

A popular site to search movie trailers is Yahoo Movies. Some people like to search movies online by “Top Box Office,” while others like to watch the “Most Recently Added” clips so they can have the latest in movies news. There is also a “Most Popular” section for tested, tried and true previews. Their “My Movies” feature lets you build a movie profile of your likes and dislikes, create lists of your favorite movies, write reviews of movies, rate movies and get personalized recommendations of new releases you might like based on your preferences. Members can also save their favorite local theaters for quick access and purchase tickets right on the site.

The website www.youtube.com also has trailers of upcoming movies. You can search by genre, alphabetical order, latest, most popular, in theaters, opening soon or studio releases. Many people like YouTube because they can quickly and easily pull up all the official, as well as user-created trailers and extended previews available. They can post comments, save the videos in a list, rate them and get codes to share the videos with friends. When most people think of “videos news,” they think of YouYube, which is a great source for any sort of video. While you can’t buy your tickets here, you can easily spend hours sifting through movie previews.
