Nineteen seventy-five was a year that saw great social change and innovations in technology that would forever change the way that the world does everything. The first microcomputer was released sparking the modern era of computers and information processing. The Viking 1 mission sent a spacecraft into the depths of the universe to explore the distant planet of Mars. In all of our history, humankind has always had a desire to improve on everything we do. It started off with a how and a why, and has continued on to how it can be done better. This desire is what makes our technology and modernization what it is today.

Just by fulfilling the basic needs of life have they were able to focus on things like the arts and education. As time went on and science improved, the ability to travel into our galaxy became possible. Even more technology has been gained with what we have found in space and the journey to get there.

Science and art changes the way that we think and live. Art has always been a way to invoke change in the thinking of society. Science has given us the tools to fulfill our needs. Specialization in crafting tools and product began to take on a very important role in development. By passing on the progress it ensured that improvements in process and quality would continue.

Passing on information from one generation to another has always been a key factor in development. Our history has been told in stories by telling them to younger generations. The handing down of possessions and the history that they represent has always represented the advancing of life and learning. From one generation to the next, family heirlooms have always carried the history of a family.

All of these accomplishments would not have been possible without the mastery of time. The one ability that ties all of humanities passion, history and accomplishments is the knowledge of time. It is a reminder of our mortality and pursuit of immortality. It follows us like the history of the world and reminds us of our future. All of this is contained in one object and carried with us when we put on a wrist watch.
