Modern fashion sees trends come and go regularly but some manage to become staples by being popular for a long time. Denim jeans are the most notable trend turned staple in recent decades. Our new closet staple item seems to be a velour tracksuit.
Unlike fads which last a season or two and then disappear, the velour tracksuit seems to be sticking around. It has enjoyed seasons of popularity in the past however this time they have been around for a couple of years already. Two years on the fashion scene is an age in modern styling.
Celebrities started wearing velour tracksuits first. First it was Britney and her bridesmaids in embroidered baby pink velour tracksuits. Then the WAGs were spotted styling themselves in an array of different coloured velour tracksuits whilst their other halves were playing in international competitions.
Now everyone likes velour tracksuits, from high street to designer. People like them so much because they are comfortable and stylish. But you need to make sure that the tracksuit you wear is made of good quality velour. It should not change or lose its shape when you wash it. Also; you do not want the colour to fade during washing. If the material is less than the best the tracksuit will end up looking more chavvy than stylish.
Dark colours work best on tracksuits for adults as colours can look like you are trying to look younger than you are. Definitely stay away from bright pinks and greens. Black, brown and navy are ideal as they are flattering.
Children however look gorgeous in brightly coloured velour tracksuits. It is hard to find comfortable, practical and stylish clothes for young girls. When you can get all three in one outfit you have found a winner. Children like wearing them because they are so easy to pull on and get off before and after swimming and other popular activities.
So with this in mind, take a look at tracksuits offered by different retailers. You will find some are better quality than others are. Retailers which sell other velour clothing will be a good choice. The tracksuits should be reasonably priced, do not pay over £60 for a tracksuit otherwise you are paying for the trend and not the clothing. Spending too little on the other hand will leave you with a shoddy piece of clothing.
