Types of Watches
Watches are generally mechanical watches or quartz watches. Mechanical movement watches are further broken down to automatic watches (automatic winding) and manual wind watches. Mechanical movement watches all mechanical components and hence the name mechanical watches. Mechanical watches do not need a battery.
Quartz watch movements do need a battery. The Quartz watch gets it’s name from the quartz crystal that is in use in the movement.
Advantages and Disadvantages
There are inherent advantages and disadvantages with both quartz and mechanical movement watches. Quartz watches are more accurate and less expensive than similarly priced mechanical watches. On the other hand you do have to change the battery every few years, which trouble. Mechanical watches are somewhat less accurate. They are heavier and usually cost more than comparable quartz watches. However, expensive mechanical watches are more than just timepieces they are works of art. Even a simple mechanical watch can have over 100 parts in them. Compare this to only a few dozen in a quartz watch. It is easy to see that it takes far more expertise to put a mechanical watch together than a quartz. Knowing whether you want a lesser priced quartz watch or a mechanical watch will help you filter out a big large number of choices.
Tips to getting the right watch
First start by reading the watch descriptions including all the specifications of all the diamond watches you are considering purchasing. Check the size of the watch many buyers return a watch simply because it is too large or too small. So read the descriptions and the specs carefully and you won’t have to waste money on shipping and create extra work and inconvenience for yourself. If you are not sure whether a watch will be too large or too small for you, measure your wrist and know the approximate size. Remember you can always contact the seller and ask for additional help.
