Britain’s health is very complicated as we are living into older age and yet there is an increase in diseases ad younger people are suffering from ‘older’ illnesses. Obesity and heart disease have replaced the pandemics of 50 to 100 years ago. Now younger people are suffering from health issues related to being overweight and poor diets. Although there may have been high levels of these type of illnesses in the past, the knowledge that we now have in modern medicine means that there is more exposure of them.
in order to prevent these afflictions affecting them, people are trying to get healthier. Home gyms have become very popular, with people installing plastic wall panelling into a spare bedroom or garage and adding gym equipment as they get it.
For inspiration as to how to build a gym in your home, look no further than the tips below.
Plastic Wall Panelling
You should not underestimate the damage that can be done to a wall when it is hit by a free weight. If you want to keep the integrity of your walls intact in case you decide to turn the gym back into a bedroom or office at some point then I would strongly suggest you install plastic wall panelling. The materials are resistant to impacts so the surface underneath is left unharmed.
Weights
If your budget does not allow you to buy state of the art running or rowing equipment all at the same time, start with some free weights and an exercise bench. You can feel yourself getting fitter when you build up muscle and do some gentle cardio. If you really want to increase your heart rate then use an exercise DVD and have a small TV in your new gym.
Machines
If you can afford it then buying a cardio machine is a good idea. This could be a treadmill, rowing machine, cross trainer or bike. Prices can start from a couple of hundred pounds to a couple of thousand depending on the spec that you choose for yourself.
